Cosamin DS is an exclusive formula created for the protection of cartilage. Glucosamine,a main active ingredient in Cosamin DS is a material the body can use to build new tissue within the joints, cartilage and tendons. It is used mainly for osteoarthritis. Chondroitin Sulfate, the other main active ingredient, bonds with collagen to form the basis of connective tissue. It helps attract fluid, thereby bringing nutrients into the cartilage and providing shock absorption. This product takes 4 - 12 weeks to see relief of pain and improved joint mobility. Cosamin DS, is a double strength formulation of glucosamine and chondroitin. **Theoretically, because it is a sugar, Glucosamine could effect blood sugar in diabetics, however this has not been reported clinically. **Glucosamine and Chondroitin contained in this product is derived from shellfish, therefore, exercise caution if known allergies exist.
